@thunderhead I've been trying to get my head around some of the macroheadlines about the US housing market.

These 3 pictures might help explain what's driving $BKW?

What I've not included are Interest rates and net migration, which are two drivers that have influenced that last 5 years.

Overall, there was a strong boost in the year or two after the pandemic; however, changes in interest rates and migration have contributed to an unwinding of the "boom".

If $BKW invested to add capacity to supply the 2021/2022 "boom", it makes total sense that this capacity is very underulitised now.

You're getting at the right data points @mikebrisy, thank you.

The US housing market is in a sort of gridlock until supply catches up. Could be a sluggish couple of years.

I had an order standing for more BKW for a couple of weeks, and it got hit today. I couldn't have cancelled it even if I wanted to as my brokerage wouldn't let me in for the first couple of hours of trading.

In this environment, you want established, profitable companies that are capable of paying out a good yield. Brickworks fits that mould, and has exposure to the best long-term dividend stock on the ASX (SOL), so not too unhappy about it. Closed a couple of % off my buy price too.
