Forum Topics DRO DRO Exactly what is a 10-Bagger?

Let's say, in a humble brag kind of way, that I bought my son DRO shares at 31cents for his 11th birthday. I also bought for myself IRL and on SM the same day.

Today DRO have closed at $3.24. Is that ~9.5 bags or 10 bags and change?

$0.31 * 10 = $3.10.. but at that price you're making $2.79 profit on a 31c investment which is only a gain of 900%.. So, which is it?

As a long-term investor this is the definition of a stupid question.. I really don't care, except my investment style has been pretty conservative, while I've been investing since turning 18 (last century), I've never come close to a genuine, short term, capital gain only type, 10-bagger..

I've generally only invested, as much as I could stomach, in boring blue chips that had a run of bad news but where my research and conviction pointed to there not being any real danger. Think BHP after Brazil, RMD after Ozempic, FMG @ $4 after almost going tits up. Over the years I've only invested in one or two start-ups like AR9, so I didn't really give myself a chance, although AR9 will get there one day!!

It was only after becoming a Strawman member in Sept 2023 that I was introduced of the likes of DRO and many other small to mid-cap opportunities.

Despite DRO's rapid gains I’m just going to continue to lean into Scott Phillips’ advice on the Pod Machine last week that I do nothing.. literally nothing.. As a lazy investor it works well for me, I don’t mentally bank the paper gains and I don’t mourn the paper losses, because I’m not smart enough to ever time the top or bottom of the market.

At some point DRO will retreat well below today’s level and that’s completely fine, I think I've got my 10-bagger badge.. What really matters is my thesis that it will be a MUCH bigger company in 5 years than it is today.

I got in at 0.17, average entry price of 0.22, and have just held on.

I too am reminded of Promedicus when I consider lightening the load. I was going to last year at all time highs of 2.70 when it was being pumped, but didn't get to do it because I was away. So I held on, and almost exactly 12 months later it surges well past that in the space of a week.

The sell decision last year was because the price was in pump and dump territory on no news. Today, it looks like it's got some contracts underneath it.

Gotta say though, a lot of the current SP (market cap of 3.2b) must assume Land156 is a done deal.

Hi Nerdag,

DroneShield has been an incredible investment for me — a true 20-bagger. I took some profits during the last run-up to $2.70, gradually selling along the way with an average sale price of $1.45. Of course, I then watched my remaining shares drop all the way to 65 cents earlier this year.

And now, as of today, it’s soared to $3.72. What a ride!

Over the past few days, I’ve started trimming a small portion of my remaining holdings. While I still firmly believe in the long-term potential of the company, it’s clear a lot of future success is already priced in.

That said, it’s hard to sell out completely — in my view, we’re only one $150+ million contract announcement away from a $5 or $6 share price.

I don't think it's out of the question at all but only time will tell! My fingers are firmly crossed.

Like @nerdag, I bought in mid 2021 at 0.21. Topped up in early 23 and early 24. Sold about half only a few weeks ago at $1.80, and what I have left is all at the 0.21 cost base. So, yeah, feeling rather pleased, even with leaving some on the table with my rebalancing sale. I can’t compare with @Escapetrader - I’m only at the 17-bagger stage, but who knows?

DRO has been an incredible ride.

Still held, not likely to sell in the foreseeable future
