I thought with AI cutting a swath through many of our portfolios with its 'Saasacre', it might be time to revisit this thread and see if AI can help us pick any winners. Following up on last time one of the AI picks, which I put some money on so I had skin in the experiment, was AXE. At the time AI identified AXE I bought in at 28 cents. It got up to 46.5 cents, so not too bad, and has since settled back to 37.5 cents as of Friday 13th close.

So who is AI picking based on social media chatter this time?

TTT is back getting a mention, which was the leading company for chatter last time, it has not done much good since then. The other code is AS2, Askari Metals Limited. What AI reckons is recorded below:

Askari Metals (ASX: AS2) is getting a spike in social‑media interest because it has just cleaned up its balance sheet and is talking up a potentially transformational exploration year, which plays well to TikTok’s speculative, small‑cap‑focused audience.

Key recent catalysts for AS2

  • Now debt‑free: AS2 has fully repaid its convertible note facility and Series B redeemable notes, leaving it with no debt or security overhang and “meaningful cash on hand” to fund exploration.
  • Aggressive 2026 drilling plan: The company is promoting a phased drilling program of up to 20,000 m at the Nejo gold–copper project in Ethiopia (initial 5,000 m), targeting shallow high‑grade gold across several prospects along a ~9 km trend.
  • Multi‑commodity story: AS2 is also talking up the Uis tin–tantalum–lithium project in Namibia, positioning itself as leveraged to gold, copper and critical metals—exactly the kind of “multi‑bagger” narrative that tends to go viral in trading clips.
  • Fresh news flow: In early February there have been quarterly report updates and a change in substantial holding, which often coincide with retail‑trader chatter and “buy the story” posts.

Why this resonates on TikTok

  • The combination of micro‑cap size, debt cleared, and big drilling programs creates an appealing “from 1–2 cents to the moon” storyline favoured on TikTok and similar platforms.
  • Short videos can easily highlight headlines like “debt free”, “20,000 m drilling”, and “gold–copper–lithium explorer”, which are simple, bullish talking points even if the underlying risk is high.

So while there is no official public metric confirming TikTok mention counts, the recent debt‑free announcement, ambitious exploration outlook, and steady ASX news flow provide the fundamental triggers that are likely driving the current surge in AS2 “buy” mentions.

Currently listed at 1.2 cents a share as of close February 13, let's see if AI has picked a winner this time?

Same query again this morning "Which ASX ticker has the biggest surge in TikTok buy mentions in the last 24 hours"?

Same answer today TTT. It will be interesting to see if it gets another bounce today.

For anyone still interested:

So TTT did no good today, it is down 2.04% for the day.

DRO was down 0.56% for the day and DOW down 0.68% for the day. So other than the initial bump there was no prolonged trend up as of yet.

I did the same query and got TTT again so I enquired "Which ASX ticker, besides TTT, has the biggest surge in TikTok buy mentions in the last 24 hours"? response below:

Let's see how AXE shapes up tomorrow.

So AXE bumped up 5.56% today, that's only 1.5 cents though, so not hard to get a bump.

For anyone following along, I've done the same query today, "Which ASX ticker has the biggest surge in TikTok buy mentions in the last 24 hours"? The response is below:

@tomsmithidg - that's fascinating. I wouldn't have said there was that much price momentum, but it was on a slow increase, and sure enough, TTT jumped out of the blocks this morning, up 4.26%. For TTT, that's not that big a deal, but it is notable nevertheless. Especially as they've yet to report. Should be later this week.

Thought I'd have a quick look at the others from last week too:

No further run up on DOW after that last jump, and DRO only up another 0.28% after Friday's bump.
