I found this email graphic from Commsec on most traded stocks last week to be interesting. I think the SM community played some part in a few of these!!
Maybe the chart is showing number of trades @Tom73 rather than number of shares traded, so perhaps a number of the 4DX buy trades were larger than the 4DX sell trades which would explain the 62%/38% split.
@Bear77 - perhaps I’m missing something here but doesn’t the graph footnote ‘based on contract note volumes (bought or sold weekly)’ indicate that it is numbers of shares rather than the number of trades.
I think the higher up the list the more total shares transacted. Then the percentage split is showing how many buyers vs sellers. So if one seller sold 4 shares, and four buyers bought one share each, there would be a 4:1 ratio buyers to sellers. ( I think)
You're right @Stevie_B - it's clearly based on volume of shares traded, not number of trades - I somehow missed that footnote before. So we can then assume that the people buying and selling 4DX on Commsec were more bullish on 4DX than they were bearish, and a lot of those buys were from sellers using other platforms (not Commsec). Sound right?
