Like most who have had anything to do with the Finance Industry, you are aware that grift, perverse incentives and what amounts to legal scams are common. But this video shocked me and while a little dated and the worst of it was with CFD’s it is amazing to understand the business model of brokers that “server” traders, and explains why I continue to get spammed by get rich quick/easy emails and videos:

Anton Kreil Annihilates Retail Brokers and "Trading Educators"

It’s long, but there is a lot covered…and once viewed – you have been warned.

@Tom73 reminds me of a "funny" story, and again, this was a fair while ago. When I worked at an FM, we were in the same building as CMC Markets, which did trader training, among other things.

one day, one of my colleagues got in the lift and saw a young Asian woman press the CMC floor. he asked her if she was doing the course, and she was bubbly in her enthusiasm. "yes, we mastered equity markets last week, and this week it is options trading". he replied, "Wow, that's great, I've been in equities 25 years, and I still haven't mastered it", lol

Apparently, they set up an internal trading room, with real money, where CMC was the banker and the clients could trade away. i heard most did their dough, the ones who had any skill, would be taken off the internal casino, given some capital and trade proprietary for CMC, haha, capitalism in action. (i have no hard evidence that this took place and is just anecdotal hearsay :i

That says it all @Solvetheriddle, I don't know which I find more depressing, knowing so many people are so blinded by greed to be fooled in that way or that there are that many people willing to take advantage of others in such a way that large businesses and industries are built on it.

I also thank my generally skeptical nature, education and having good people around me for not being on either side of that. The simple moto of "if it's too good to be true it probably isn't true" and a need to understand the mechanics that generate the outcomes has protected me from the FX/Option/Share trading get rich quick/easy schemes and gambling for that matter. I liked black jack, but needed to understand the odds and without card counting it just didn't work, so I lost interest.

I really wish financial education was better at school - or at least it was compulsory, those studying commerce or economics get some (not enough), but those who need it the most (ie don't understand it at all), get none because they don't choose these subjects because they are no good at them...
