Pinned straw:
Good question @thunderhead ! I can’t find much about Kontos online, but then I’m no super-sleuth. The fact he’s got a low profile kind of supports the little bit of info there is on him, which describes him as a fairly passive, high conviction, high concentration investor. At face value, a good sign that he sees value in the company, a little uncomfortable about him getting close to a blocking stake. Who knows, maybe that will encourage someone to try and take out PPL while the price is depressed and before Kontos becomes a blocker (although realistically he wouldn’t need much help to get there at 22.5% already). For the sake of us small fry, if he’s a champion of shareholders he’ll hold out for more - which will make him a threat to any acquirer and could slow a sale down, but might reward those of us with patience. Certainly if Martin was looking to flog off the business on the cheap, he probably can’t anymore!
Maybe, in the words of roaring kitty he “just really likes the stock: :)
