Pinned straw:
@Magneto Thanks for the post. We are basically in complete agreement about the risk/reward
A few comments:
Lack of management ownership is certainly a big concern. It would be nice to see some on-market director purchases. If you and I are correct about the upside of this business, why aren't management seeing it and taking advantage of the opportunity?
I agree re the respiratory segment. It seems a poor business, although revenue and profits do bounce around considerably. I'd like to see them wait for a decent result, sell it off and concentrate on penthrox
I'm not too worried about the US. There is a massive growth runway in Europe / Canada etc. If per capita revenues in overseas countries where penthrox is already launched got to even half the Australian rate, sales would be at least 10 times what they are currently. Claude estimates that the total population of countries in which penthrox is currently commercially available is 857 million. Currently more than half of total penthrox sales are still in Australia. We don't need a US launch for this to be a multibagger. I would prefer to see management wait, prove that the product works in Europe, and then either sell off the US rights or enter into a partnership of some kind with someone who can invest in the necessary trials and approvals.
I have a slightly different take on purchasing tactics. Obviously this is highly personal and depends heavily of investing strategy and risk tolerance. My personal approach is that if I find a company that I believe is clearly undervalued, with more upside than downside, I would rather get in and take at least a small position, rather than waiting. Yes, by waiting for 2 quarters of positive NPAT, you are reducing the risks significantly. But by the time we get there, you may be paying over a dollar, rather than 38 cents. I would rather get in now with a small position, and add more later if things continue to track positively.
What I'm trying to say is, better to deal with a risky, but undervalued company by limiting position size, rather than staying on the sidelines altogether IMO.
Thanks again for the post
