Hey Andrew, not sure if anyone else has suggested it, but it would be great to have an official way of tagging other members in forums and straws in the future!

I'm here Noddy, just not all the time.  I leave my home office for work (my full-time job) at 11:30am Mon-Fri, although it will be 10:30am tomorrow (Adelaide time, so add half an hour for Eastern States time) and I get back at around 8:30pm most nights, and usually have a look at what's been happening sometime between then and midnight.  At work I have no phone or internet access and no time to use either if I did have access. Tonight I didn't get to look at my computer until 10pm.  There were friends over when I got home, and my son had slipped and hit his head on a towel rack, just under his eye earlier today, he's OK but wanted to talk about it.  I had a few chores to do and grabbed some food.  I was very busy over the weekend, so didn't get time to do much except read through a few threads and like a few straws, valuations and forum posts.  I have updated two "stale" valuations so far this week and reactivated a few stale straws, and deleted a few other stale straws, but I'm interested to see so much more traffic on the site and so many new names, so I'm taking a back seat this week and mostly watching.

I won't be posting any more company announcements without commentary, as I agree with a few other comments here about that.  It's something I used to do a lot, and before that I often just provided a link to company announcements with the appropriate announcement title, but we've all got trading accounts, and we've all got watchlists, and we can all access these announcements any time we want to so my thoughts now are that I'm only going to post straws or forum posts about company announcements when I think they're particularly important and/or I've got a view or opinion I think is worth sharing about the company, or one of its competitors.  So, I'll always include something other than just cutting and pasting the announcement, otherwise I won't post it at all.  Not telling anyone else what to do, or even making a suggestion, everyone is free to do whatever they want, however, that's going to be my approach.  I'm also going to cut down on my "Quote of the day" and similar stuff that I used to do regularly every week.  I'm not chasing awards or credits and I'm not interested in trying to improve my ranking.  I'm actually very happy at number 7 today - my favourite number - however I know I won't stay there - with less content I'm going lower.  I'll add something when I've got something to say, and when I have the time, but I do get busy with other stuff sometimes.  The last week has been particularly hectic actually.

I do have a couple of smaller companies I'm interested in, that I haven't talked about much before, however I haven't done enough work yet to share anything of value at this point.  So I haven't left, but I've been a lot quieter than usual online this past week, mostly because I've been busy doing other stuff, and also because every time I check in with Strawman.com, there seems to be hundreds of new straws, valuations and posts, so I figure I'll do more reading and less posting.

Edit:  Additional:  10-Aug-2021:  This post of mine looks quite weird here by itself now that you've deleted your post Noddy! - The one I was replying to.  Why did you do that?

Hahaha - @Noddy and @Bear - love the dynamic between you two.

I am supportive of a website-wide 'BBB' advertisment when we haven't heard from @Bear for a few days.

PS - hope your son is OK @Bear.

Thanks for letting us know you're ok Bear...and I hope your son is too.  I'm just not used to you going off grid for that long!  And thanks for the very detailed foray into your day, you described it with such color and forensic detail I almost felt like I was there...and now we're back in lockdown I wish I was.  You left us with a little teaser about those companies you have on your watchlist.  I'm looking forward to hearing a follow up in coming weeks.

I'm with you on the asx announcements stuff.  I don't much care but if people do Ctrl-C Ctrl-V an announcement but I don't typically vote on it unless they're giving me a little bit of commentary with it.  Even then if it's all gushy and 'how good is this company and how good am I for owning it' I'm less likely to take much heed than if they're calling out potential landmines.  Fortunately there's enough collective realism here that it isn't as much of an issue as it is on some other platforms...

Hi Strawman, have you thought about a family rate for Strawman Premium? I'd love to have all my family join so they can read the posts, but they are probably not as passionate as me and I would have to shout them! :)

I'd second that.  Three sons all in their 20s trying to make a start and dipping their toes into the market.  I'd be very interested in that idea as a way of partially disrupting the constant... "hey dad, what do you reckon about this company?"

To be honbest I hadnt thought of that, but it's an interesting idea.

We may end up offering either a family membership option or a 'Strawman Lite' version down the track -- but for right now we're just focused on getting things off to a flying start for our Premium members.

An interesting analysis Chill wrt comparing Premium vs Non-Premium portfolios.

How is the portfolio decided upon? Perhaps Andrew can clarify?

Hi @ShangriLa -- the Strawman Indexes work as described here:

https://strawman.com/blog/the-strawman-index/

The difference between the regular and premium index is that the former uses ALL member portfolios to determine the company ranking, whereas the Premium index only considers the portfolios of our Premium users.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Andrew, do we have some sort of goal that as a group we are trying to achieve?

I may have missed the post, as I am not too familiar with things around here yet, so I won't say too much more at this point.
