2253 GMT - Australia's S&P/ASX 200 looks poised to resume its recent slide after U.S. stocks continued to stumble amid diminished hopes for interest-rate cuts.

ASX futures are down by 0.7%, suggesting that the benchmark index will fall at the open and almost certainly round out a hefty weekly drop.

The ASX 200 rose 0.5% on Thursday to snap a five-day losing streak, but remains 1.9% lower so far this week.

Ahead of the open, lithium miner Pilbara Minerals reported a 27% on-quarter fall in 3Q revenue despite a 3% rise in sales.

Woodside Energy is scheduled to give a 1Q update. In the U.S., the S&P 500 lost 0.2%, the Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.5%, and the DJIA gained less than 0.1%. (stuart.condie@wsj.com)
