Thanks for all the feedback everyone.  I've learned a little bit more about the scoreard reset feature and I'm leaning towards not using it at this time.  Meanwhile I've paid a bit more attention to the percentile figure on my profile page and seen that there is a smaller number that gives the 3 monthly and 6 monthly performance figure.  I imagine that this will extend to including the yearly return once that milestone is reached for each member.

I've seen that Mitchell & Webb skit, and love it too.

The ability to reset a scorecard was first intended to encourage beta testers to be bold and experiment. We wanted to catch as many bugs as possible and so felt a reset feature might help on that front.  That being said, I've also come to see it as useful for those who want a fresh start. But to ensure it isn't abused, we limit each member to 3 resets, and will note any past resets on a members profile. That way, others will also know and there's no hiding from past misadventures.  Like most things, this is open to change, and it's great to get some perspective from members.

As for the site refresh, I apologise again for the delay. The nature of development is one of two steps forward and one step backward, and I also have very limited resources (one part time developer, and a few occasional contractors). It's been incredibly frustrating, but we are slowly getting there.

If you know of any developers that might be interested in contributing to the project, send 'em my way!

Cricket’s...still on I guess, and possibly too soon a topic with the year we’ve had there.

Also, I’m just making an inane first comment to register some activity for the new topic in the ether.

Although I am curious about what the results of the informal poll would be so get your votes in punters!

No. Not unsporting at all, because it's within the rules. Sharemarket investing is inherently uneven - in terms of a playing field. They say for every winner there is a loser. However, it's more that for every big winner there are likely to be a number of losers. The informed and the brave make the big bets, and ensure that wealth continues to transfer to them from the uninformed, the speculators, the timid, the uncommitted investors who panic too easily and sell, the FOMO mob, and the unlucky. However, leaving ethics aside, as long as it's within the rules, all's fair in love and investing. Strawman has their own rules (subject to change of course) and one of them is that you are allowed to reset your scorecard a couple of times. I have noted that when this has been done, the reset is noted on that member's current scorecard - along with their performance at the time of the reset - so past scorecard performance is not forgotten - it is listed there for all to see - unless the rules get changed again (such as via a site upgrade, or a variance between the Beta version and the final version of Strawman).

My point however is that all's fair as long as you play by the rules, and a reset is within the rules at this time, so it's a fair move. I have certainly considered it myself on a number of occasions as I look at my triple exposure to RCR Tomlinson (RCR) and the massive losses I have incurred as a result of that misguided conviction. My own intention however remains to allow my scorecard to trade its way back into a profitable position, just as in real life. Perhaps I just need to invest in some pre-consolidation stocks, like most of the current scorecard leaders have done, and get that 1000%+ uplift...

By the way PEB, that opening post of yours is another excellent one. You certainly add a lot of value to this site with posts like that which are well thought out, entertaining and educational, with plenty of further reading available via those links you provided. Dare I say - a NumberWang post!
