Pinned straw:
As a hard core QF points collector via WOW's Everyday Rewards, with 2 different membership accounts, a few insights from me:
The $35 signup deal has occurred before - think there was a window for that last year, around the same time as this year. There is an ongoing "extend membership for half price" offer as well. The membership, even at full price has always been good value as the 10% off per shop each month already pays for the membership comfortably.
I have noticed a distinct change in the manner and quantum of points being dished out since Brad left. The aggressiveness and frequency of the bonus point offerings have actually scaled back noticeably. I used to get 25x point for $x shops every 3-4 weeks or so across both cards (both have very different spend patterns) - they are now more spaced out, maybe 6-7 weeks once. Instead of 25x bonus, they are mostly now 10x bonus. I get the feeling that we are in a "transition period" of sorts" as it relates to working out how best to leverage the Everyday Rewards asset going forward.
The dramas around misleading specials etc has not quite changed the aggressiveness of the points offers, hence the thinking around the "transition period".
What I have noticed though, is that there SEEMS to be broader, heavier and more persistent discounting since the ACCC dramas were flagged - what used to be regularly discounted by 20%, now can discount for 30-40%. Could well be perception, but it does FEEL like there is more discount tickets when walking the aisles.
