And, after 3 years of silence, what ASX screener you are using?

(I'm Trading view at the moment but even the paid account is basic)

I don't personally use one @ciocan76. I tend to stumble across ideas less intentionally. The ASX isn't huge when you strip out the really speculative or more stagnant stuff.

And much of the stuff I'm interested in isn't easily scanned for at any rate. Being more subjective and all (eg management integrity, business model, reinvestment potential etc etc).

If/when AI gets good enough, I'd love it to shortlist companies that:

  • High inside ownership
  • Demonstrated sales traction
  • Is already a leading player in disrupting a slow and inefficient industry. (Or in creating an entirely new industry)
  • Strong balance sheet, or at least reliable access to low cost capital
  • Able to reinvest cash flows at a high internal rate of return
  • Scalable cost base
  • Delivers a product/service that is way more than a "nice to have". Ideally represents a mission critical component for customers.
  • Offers a simple and obvious value prop to customers. Does a few things really well, instead of a lot of things badly.
  • Is at or approaching an inflection point in regard to positive cash flows

That's a bit of a stream of consciousness, and I'm definitely forgetting a few things. There's nothing in there around valuation either, but hopefully such a search would yield some interesting candidates.

Ive recently searching for better tools for global stocks (esp AU/NZ/US/CA/UK)

If Im going to pay a subscription I want to also get access to good fundamentals, filings and earning transcripts and recordings all in one place

So far Ive narrowed it down to TIKR and Finchat - the screeners seem good and similar on both

At the moment am inclined to go with Finchat as it gives you earnings recordings and has a much nicer/modern UI

However Finchat shortcomings Ive come across are:

  • It doesnt have AU filings yet (TIKR does but then asx.com.au is ok)
  • The coverage of AU stocks for earnings transcripts is only the larger ones currently (few microcaps yet)
  • And one negative is if you cut and paste into a spreadsheet the numbers go down not across (where as TIKR is ok)

Also one Ive heard mentioned for advanced screening that allows advanced and custom formulas

https://screener.co/

But I havent used it.

I came across Finbox recently and I've found it useful.

I mainly use Stock Doctor for ASX companies. I signed up for the free trial a number of times but in the end I paid for it. Not cheap but has paid for itself multiple times over.

Just playing around with the TIKR screener seems pretty good. Not sure if you can just get access straight away without a referral link but here is mine if anyone wants to play around with a free service.

Hi Alpha, thanks for sharing. This is impressive and I can already see a few solid use cases for this. This might be a really good tool for discovering opportunities at the microcap level through use of the global screen - as touched on by @Elpaso96. You can set certain parameters to restrict search returns by specific marketcap, revenue, price movement etc etc. I have already ran a few tests - ie show companies with a marketcap under 300mil, with revenues over 20% within the last two/three years and cashburn under ***. I will try and have a good play with this over the weekend.

One feature I really like with TIKR is the ability to chart different metrics over time. For example the EV/Rev multiple or EV/EBITDA. If you search a company on TIKR then go to the valuation tab you can click on the metric you want to view and plot this on a graph over time 1,3,5,10 years etc. You can then add additional companies to this graph and see how they compare. APT for example has historically traded at a premium to Z1P but this premium expanded since March of 2020. Really good way to get a visual representation of "value" and how this has changed over time.

Plenty of other features on TIKR but this is one I use on the regular.

I'm curious which stock screening tools do members use/recommend for the ASX?
