Just a quickie - I know I do give a lot of upvotes here, because I like the content and/or because I respect the time and effort that the community member has put into their straw, valuation or post. However there are some companies that just don't interest me, like BNPL companies, most fintechs, betting and gambling companies, coal miners, lithium miners, higher-cost iron ore miners, most early-stage minerals exploration companies and project developers, most biotechs (particularly the early stage ones and those still going through trials who have not yet got approvals to allow for any income generation), companies I think are priced rediculously highly, companies where I do not trust their management for one reason or another, etc. Most of the time, I won't even read those posts or valuations, so I won't vote on them either. I used to try to read everything here, but with the amount of content we have now, I'm finding I just don't have the time to read it all, or to contribute as much as I used to either, so if I haven't given you an upvote for something, or you haven't received many upvotes, it may not be due to the quality or accuracy of your content, it could well just be that myself or others aren't interested in that particular company. It's not personal. However I also do NOT downvote that content - I just skip over it.

Im a new member to the strawman community and so I still dont really understand how the voting works at this stage or how the site works.
However for now Im finding it intresting but im not to sure how beneficial it is for me as an investor per say as yet But at least I have others that I can connect with whom have a shared intrest in some of the companys I am invested with. Its all so new at this stage.
I tend to like the first stage of investing thinking about the bigger picture things and would like to improve my technical side and seek sharing and coming up with a way to do this that matches my investment style. However each of us will have our own areas that we would like to focus on or improve.
After reading a number of thoughts on the voting system and the ways it can be veiwed. What I thought on is a simple thumbs down doesnt tell me why people disagree with whats written or discussed. And its great if people disagree and put up a new thought in a constructive way.
I also understand that we all have different backgrounds heritages and life expereinces we are differnt ages and as a result have differnt underlying views opnions and meanings behind things. And by coming from differnt perspectives it may be hard to understand what some one is saying without veiwing things from the perspective of thier experince in life.
It would be like chalky1610 speaking shelta aka gammon ( irish traveller language) with us at large it may be a little tricky for us to follow unless you grew up in an irish traveller community or been in Sligo living in a bender or with those who have knowledge of such things that could relate.
And while strawman is an online community with thousands of users this will mean there will be a number of people and personalities includding those with an inclined towards the dark traits of personality machevism narcism and psychopathy. As well as many various personality types to also consider.
The next point to note about associating with shady characters is that you cannot change them. They delight in your failure, so they will do anything to sabotage your attempts at managing their behavior.
You should, in addition, decide if you should continue a relationship with them. Weigh the pros and cons of associating with people who treat you poorly. Finally, draw your boundaries and know where you stand. Follow your heart.
with this in mind dont take it personal at all when someone down votes you and dont expect people to always understand you but seek out those who have offered their perspective in an area that you are intrested in and can openly share to embetter yourself in an area that you have focuss and passion in.
Hope you all stay and provide and share something of what it your focussed on and that way we can all grow from your opinions Thats life I feel Hope you all find clarity and become better at choosing and learning how to think on investing.
