I added this too another post but TIKR Financial also lists this and also shows the latest change of their ownership and a few other metrics. That said the best place is always the source i.e. annual reports and subsequent announcements to ensure accuracy as others have said.

I am wondering if there is an easy way to find out say - Top 20 shareholders for a company?  I find this is not disclosed directly in the Annual Report, can be worked out from report to certain extent. Do we have an easy way to find this out ?

You can work it out from announcements listed on the asx website. Some of churn one gets to do when digging into a company.

I often use simplywallst instead....

Hope that helps.

Check out the very end of an annual report (the full annual report, not just the annual financial statements which get released earlier) You'll find shareholder information there , In fact pretty sure it's a legal requirement.

From there the company has to report any changes to significant shareholdings. I just use the ASX website.

Some brokers have this info on their websites. I also uses CommSec which shows it in the research section.

Good luck

Be careful with SimplyWall.St. It's a great tool but it's not always accurate. A perfect example is/was QFE. Founder and former CEO Bruce Coombes owns ~12% but SimplyWall.St showed him owning <2%. This is because his holdings are through Bonec Pty Ltd and Jamada Holdings Pty Ltd and SWS didn't pick up on this until a Strawman user emailed them and they changed it.

As Andrew said, refer to the annual report. Using QFE as an example again, in their 2020 AR on page 87 they list the top 20. If you scroll to the next page they even bring Bruce Coombes holdings from his trusts and show his total ownership - 12.72%.

Looking up Top 20 Option holders (also found in the annual report) can be a fun way to see who's pumping their own penny stock on social media; particularly if they're dumb enough to use their real FB account.

@CanadianAussie

Thanks for heads up. I usually use SimplyWallSt at a glance so to speak, when doing back of the napkin checks before deep diving. I have always assummed sites with automated data to be potentially out of date so to speak.

Deep diving I always go to the source, do the long slog of reading, highlighting, calculating, modelling, or replicating provided analysis. Trust, but verify.
