I personally like the Coolabah capital funds (Bonds). They seem to have pretty low volatility and outperform the market. There is a listed one HBRD, though the returns from that aren't amazing, I like it more than a bank account.
Depends how much risk you are prepared to take - have a look at TCF which pays around a 6%PA dividend monthly. I use it as one of the ways to earn a bit more for my SMSF "CASH". You are taking a risk but its better than 0%. I usually buy when it falls below $5.80. It isn't a term deposit and you need to do your own research and be comfortable with the risk. There are some others which are similar.
I have some funds which I need to park for 3-6 months and I don't have an offset account so can't have that in-home loan account.
I am definitely looking at the safety of capital first and returns later. Do we have any instrument which can give me more than 2%?
