Proposing another Sydney Strawman Stock Story Swap Meet.
Aiming for Tue 16th or Thur 18th June.
The closest thing to Omaha we have in Sydney seems to be Hotel Sweenys - https://hotelsweeneys.com.au/
So let's stick with that unless anyone has a better idea?
Please give this post a thumbs up only if you plan to attend so we can gauge numbers, and let me know if you have a preference for either date.
Bring your most treasured ideas so we can destroy them in real time - Strawman smack down style!
Hi @Slomo I'm keen for to join kn the Sydney get togethet, but can likely only make the Thu 18th option (on duty for daughters training Tue nights). If it lands Thu i'll be there. Cheers @Randy
Hey @Slomo just wondering which way this is leaning? Tuesday or Thursday? I'd love to come and meet some fellow strawpeople, but it's 6 hours return travel, (thanks to the collapse of the Mitchel Causeway on the not so great Western Highway) so I need a bit of forward planning to make it happen.
Edit to add: Thursday is better for me.
Locking in Thur 18th June from 5:30pm at Sweeny's - Either rooftop or one level down, or both like last time.
I'll ask if they can can build a Sydney Strawman smack down event themed UFC cage on the rooftop to accommodate.
Also for some Strawman Dollars with my face on it.
Look forward to seeing everyone there.
Will be Yuge!
Awesome, Hotel booked, travel arrangements sorted, not sure about the cage fighting techniques. Fear I may be less Strawman/UFC smack down master, more rodeo clown!
Hi @Slomo & Sydney SM Crew
Should be good to make it in to city for this tom night - looking forward to putting some faces to names.
Just wanted to confirm 100% we're still on for tom night 5:30pm on at Hotel Sweeneys?
Thanks @Randy
@Slomo your prediction, or is that forecast, was correct. It was yuge! Thanks for organising.
And thanks all for the great conversations and thought provoking ideas. I had a great night.
Likewise @Bushmanpat - a thoroughly enjoyable night with good company and good chats. Thanks again @Slomo for marshalling the troops.

Photo caption: One of the most tense moments of the night when DrPete confronted Strawman with "Make that damn bookmark capability live or I'm telling everyone your Bitcoin key!"
LOL ... pure terror personified.
I know some think we are a bit slower here in QLD, but I guess it probably is time to think about a SE QLD meeting?
Feel free to DM the Yellow Rosella (!!) if you are interested and have a preferred venue. IMO C'est Bon worked well last year.
We can target late July to give ample notice. If we get a critical mass, I'll set up a preferences sheet like last time taking on board any requests.
Note, I am not going to reply to this until next week, as I am about to head off with Mrs Mikebrisy for a few days in Palm Cove, QLD and intend to be offline for a bit. Recharge the batteries before the FY updates start coming in!!
Of course, if someone else wants to organise, unlike Keir Starmer, I'm not going to ask to see your 81 signatures.
Alternative caption, based on the barman in the background???
Maybe... "No !!, it CAN get worse, now they're talking about Bitcoin!"
@mikebrisy , I'd be keen again. Glad you like C'est Bon. Surely your Rosella could be better described as 'Gold' at the moment, given your Number 1 status.
@tomsmithidg - yes, C'est Bon was your recommendation last time wasn't it?
As to the golden bird, that's why I choose it (obviously) but I have to give it its real name, and I don't like to rub @Strawman's nose in it too much. It is hard enough keeping up with the algorithm tweaking as it is!
The Yellow Rosella is actually a sub-species of the Crimson Rosella - my usual avatar. However, as far as I know, they have never been observed in the wild in QLD. So, even rarer than my occasional appearances in the #1 spot in these parts.
Fun orthithological fact
"The sub-species of Crimson Rosella P. elegans is distributed in the interior of south-east Australia along the rivers Murray and Murrumbidgee. It is found in stands of River Red Gums Eucalyptus camaldulensis which are not used by the other sub-species of P. elegans."
@mikebrisy , it was indeed. Maybe we should tee it up for Origin Night and invite the Sydney crew up here to watch the decider with us, haha.
Sorry for the last minute notice, but a couple of members and myself are meeting up for an impromptu xmas drink in Springwood tomorrow.
It'll be a trek for most people, but if you're near the area and want to pop by we'd love to see you there!
Venue: the Oriental Hotel, Springwood. 4pm

Thanks for the meet up @Strawman and @Lewis.
For the benefit of other members I’m in Aus from Singapore for Xmas and am taking the family up to see the Blue Mountains so I thought I’d reach out to Andrew to see if he was free for a beer as I’d heard on the MF podcast that he lives up this way.
It was great to meet the Rampaging bitcoiner who I’ve listened to for hours on podcasts over the years.
Also caught a cracking sunset at the Three Sisters.
Cheers
JM

Yeah great to meet you @JohnnyM, thanks for the catch up. Safe travels.
Great to catch up with some fellow Strawfolk last night. Lots of good conversation, and we all agreed it was of a far superior quality to the Melbourne event (naturally) ;)

Mate, you wanna fight?
Don't forget the Sydney meet-up is a go for tomorrow night at Hotel Sweeney's in the city.
RSVP here if you haven't already.
Looking forward to catching up, celebrating a few wins and meeting some new members!
Unfortunately, I've come down with a bug and wont attend the Sydney Meetup. May the drinks flow freely, the rants be long, and the bar accept Bitcoin.
2 of those 3 things is guaranteed @DrPete
Shame you can't make it, but staying in bed is probably the smarter move. Get well soon!
I've just emailed everyone who has RSVPd, but in case anyone has missed that, we are a go for 4pm onwards at Hotel Sweeney's. If the weather holds, we'll do the roof. Otherwise, we are one level down.
I thought the ducks were lining up for me to attend but alas, no. Have a great night everyone and hopefully I can make the trip into the big smoke(y) for the next one.
Likewise @Bushmanpat I had all my ducks in a row to attend tonight, then someone shot them!
Have fun folks and i look forward to joining you on the next one.
