I have been following agriculture for years, as everyone has to eat, and in recent years the smart money is moving in this direction.

Investing in commodities (such as dairy) usually ends badly. But in recent days products that enhance agriculture appear to be an opportunity - especially Potassium (K), Phosphorus (P) and nitrogen (N). I would also (and especially for Australia) add water.

Fortunately, there are great companies to back who mine in Australia and are either producers or very close to production and who compare well with world's best.

These include AEV, CXM, IPL and KLL.

I also like SHL as it operates in the growing almond market and has strong water allocation.

I'm interested in any thoughts others have on this thesis.
