I must admit that I am not a huge cricket fan, and I consider most professional sportspeople to be overpaid prima donnas. Nevertheless, Shane Warne's death does seem to have triggered a significant emotional response in many sports people and non-sports people - including my wife and some of her girlfriends - alike. It might have to do with his age, his "larrakinism" and the Ausdtralian ethos, or the context of current world calamity. What I am fairly certain of is that it ain't going to impact much on the ASX 200 or most other indices, and the event pales into insignificance globally whe one considers the events in Europe at the moment. Time for a reality check, lads and lasses?
