Does anybody have any insights or thoughts into why BTI trades for so far below their reported NTA value?

It seems that the share price reflects the NTA of public companies that BTI holds and excludes private holdings.

Thoughts please?

@Lambo there have been dozens of examples over the years where a holding company trades at a discount the underlying asset value, even if the assets are publicly listed values. the holding company structure does have inherent risks, that is, there is one step more between you and the money. alot can and has happened in that step. capital allocation risk. unless i am super bullish on the underlying assets, ie they have big upside, and they trade only at fair value, then unless it is25-30% discount i am not usually willing to take the risk. imo.

my favourite example was a comapny call Bell Resources with $2 cash, trading at $1. Alan Bond got control and ALL the cash disappeared, it went broke. thats an extreme but real example. Mgt here look much more trustworthy!! can value disappear?

Thanks Andrew on todays talk. These guys have the runs on the board yet the share price is yet to reflect the success. How many investors would like to be invested in a company that is about to realise over 100m in cash from investments? Whilst, many companies on the ASX are concerned with trying to turn a profit to put a floor under their share price, Bailador is in the envious position of deciding - how much cash to spend on further opportunities, if they should provide a special dividend or if they should create a long term dividend plan or the while continuing to benefit from companies they have invested in. There are very few VC opportunities on the ASX for retail investors so it’s great to have a listed opportunity to tap into this part of the market.

Thanks for the heads up. From what I can see that ETF focuses on more established private companies as opposed to the real start up venture capital micros. However, I like the complimentary nature of the ETF to what BTI are doing.
