A lot of commentary on how difficult the sharemarket has been this year etc etc. I benchmark against the ASX300 Accumulation (i.e. inclusive of dividends) every financial year on my personal portfolio - the ASX300 Accumulation is up over 10% since 1 July. That's 37% annualised. Fair to say I'm well behind that benchmark at the moment, but I thought it was worth sharing as it's pretty surprising to me given current market conditions/commentary.

On the ASX website, I've set up portfolios for my personal portfolio, a potential portfolio, one for my dad and one for stocks I've sold and it's interesting to see how the performance over the past month compares with the ASX200. Some days I'm up, some I'm down and some of the swings between being up one day and down the next against the index over such a short timeframe as 1 month is crazy.

Just reinforces ignore the noise and focus on the long term.
