Thankyou for a great discussion @Strawman and @Wini. I found an opportunity to listen to the meeting today. I love to hear how successful investors think. You certainly can’t argue with Wini’s consistent performance on Strawman and at Merewether Capital! Congratulations!

@Rick I’ll second that!

@Wini appreciate the insights on $LBL. I agree that if they have 4-5 cells to deploy across WA and QLD, then it makes total sense to prioritise that over external licensing deals. You are right in that management had not made this clear.

Also thanks for clarifying the learning they are going through on "plug and play" versus "bespoke build" … a fundamental difference for the economics, so lack of progress is a sign of discipline.

As an aside, I have recently finished training a class full of Chinese steel industrialists, and used an $LBL case study to illustrate the economics of laser bonding steel mill rollers from a total cost of ownership perspective. $LBL gave me permission to use their marketing materials, and it was well received. I guess that makes me part of the $LBL business development team!!

Ha Ha! Does that mean you’re on the Laserbond payroll now @mikebrisy! :)

@Rick, no. But it only took them 2 hours to reply to my request to use the material and approve it. (I could see the case study being transmitted back to the mothership as I was delivering it!) Happy to enjoy their success in SP progression!

Haha that is awesome @mikebrisy, I know a lot of people like to shop at retailers they own, etc. but becoming a full fledged BDM for your investment is a new one! Probably helps that the LBL cladding economics stack up pretty well, not a hard sell to the people at the coalface. Of course the hard part is convincing the higher ups who are always nervous about change management to make the switch to the new and better product/process over the incumbent.

@Wini I know what you mean. 3 conversations in our household over the last 12 months:

Wife: Our cheapo airfryer is toast. Let's get a new one.

Me: Let's see what's good on the Breville website

Daughter (part-time barrista paying her way through Uni): Dad, can we get a better coffee machine?

Me: Sure, here's what available on the Breville website, and I see Dean Merlo (her boss) recommends the Breville-XXXX

And, just 2 days ago...

Wife: I'd like to get a slow oooker.

Me: Well, there's this Breville model which is just a slow cooker, and this combo slow cooker-pressure cooker with connection to online recipes. Which would you prefer?
