Love the product (or the theory regarding the product) but have concerns

1 - spark website in nz actually offers two kids smart watches for sale- although the company presents spacetalk as though it has an amazing agreement with the nz telecom provider. That said, the alcatel kids watch looks rubbish compared with spacetalk

2 - why buy a $300 limited functionality smartwatch when you can buy an older apple watch for the same price! (The reality is that spacetalk has limited online capabilities and you probably dont want 8 year olds having a true apple watch capability).

3 - other products are available - a quick google shows that despite the investor slide decks and presentations - other options are available - and cheaper (not sure if they are as good, and they probably dont have as good distribution agreements... but still)

awesome new product. As a parent of a young child (albeit too young at present for a smart watch) it really speaks to me - particularly on an aspirational type ground. The spacetalk watch can track your child and allow limited calls/texts. Basically kids can be similar to how they used to be - run around the street/park/get themselves to school safely and with the ability to contact them. It may be more aspirational than real... not sure.

From a business point of view it has the advantage of a subscription fee providing regular revenue, and their original school admin system providing regular revenue that has been stae for quite some time. Furthermore - major exclusive distribution agreement with jb hifi may lead to massive sales over xmas.

In nz they have an agreement to sell through spark telecommunications on a regular payment plan... if they can copy this in other nations it could be a great revenue source.

if the product gets traction amongst kids at school, you could imagine the pester power potential!!!

But... bear case has me concerned. Would be great to hear other opinions.
