Any new contracts is always good news @DrPete, @Bushmanpat & @Strawman IMO.
Most interesting for me (as a former electrical & telecommunications guy) is the involvement of Honeywell. These guys have a long history of buying companies that start as subcontractors with great businesses.
Quick check on ChatGPT revealed:
Honeywell has a long history of acquisitions and mergers to expand its technology and market presence across various industries. Here’s a list of some of the more notable companies Honeywell has acquired over the years:
Major Acquisitions by Honeywell:
1. AlliedSignal (1999)
Technically, AlliedSignal acquired Honeywell and took its name. This was a pivotal deal that rebranded the company as Honeywell and greatly expanded its aerospace and industrial capabilities.
2. Measurex (1997)
A control systems manufacturer, which strengthened Honeywell's process automation business.
3. Novar plc (2005)
A UK-based building controls and security systems company, enhancing Honeywell's building solutions segment.
4. Metrologic Instruments (2008)
Specializes in data capture and barcode scanning technologies.
5. Norcross Safety Products (2008)
A manufacturer of personal protective equipment (PPE), contributing to Honeywell’s safety and productivity segment.
6. EMS Technologies (2011)
Focused on satellite and wireless communications, this acquisition enhanced Honeywell’s aerospace communications portfolio.
7. Intermec (2013)
A major provider of RFID, mobile computing, and barcode scanning technology.
8. Elster Group (2015)
A global provider of gas, electricity, and water meters, which bolstered Honeywell’s smart grid and energy efficiency technologies.
9. COM DEV International's Space Division (2016)
Acquired to support Honeywell’s space and satellite systems capabilities.
10. Intelligrated (2016)
A warehouse automation company, key to building Honeywell's logistics automation offerings.
11. Nextnine (2017)
An industrial cybersecurity company, helping Honeywell expand its OT cybersecurity portfolio.
12. Sparta Systems (2020)
A quality management software (QMS) company, primarily used in the life sciences industry.
13. Quantinuum (formed in 2021)
Although not an acquisition, Honeywell merged its quantum computing division with Cambridge Quantum to create Quantinuum.
14. Performix (2022)
A manufacturing execution system (MES) provider for pharma and biotech.
15. Cambridge Quantum Computing (Merger, 2021)
Leading to the creation of Quantinuum as mentioned above.
16. Tracer Gas and Ultrasonic Leak Detection Businesses from Baker Hughes (2023)
Enhancing Honeywell's gas detection and emissions monitoring capabilities.
Conclusion:
Honeywell often acquires firms in automation, aerospace, industrial software, energy efficiency, and safety. There are a lot of other smaller deals done, but $AVA would not just be another subcontractor to Honeywell, but a potential target if they do a great job.
disc held IRL and just reduced (of course) in SM portfolio.
