Quick note on real world user experience:

I signed up for an account and had some trouble transferring funds to the account. I attempted a transfer 3 times simultaneously through bBay and as a direct deposit, which all bounced.

I found that while using the app, the customer support contact details were difficult to find. There appears to be an easily identifyable headset button at the top right of the app which would indicate a helpdesk support team. That button directed me to a troubleshooting page of which I had to search for a contact email address.

After 3 back and forth emails, with at least a week between each email the issue was rectified.

My user experience has not been great so far, I will not be moving away from CommSec.

My experience has been the absolute reverse.

Applied online and got approved within 10hrs. Was sent a welcome email with instructions on how to transfer money across - BPAY or direct transfer to ANZ bank account opened by them under your name.

Direct transfer = 1 minute delay

BPAY = 24hr delay

Exchange AUD to USD = (correction: 1 day)

Selfwealth has now launched free live pricing to all accounts, as per their blog post

As a long term Selfwealth user I feel like this comes at a time that is too late...Honestly once Stake opens up their $3 Chess sponsored trading I am tempted to switch - there just doesn't seem to be any benefit to sticking with Selfwealth any longer.

  • The soon-to-come crypto trading probably be better done on crypto specific platforms, liquidity-wise
  • I've always used Commsec for the free live pricing and using 2 different apps - one for trading and one for prices doesn't bother me too much.
  • I couldn't be bothered to switch for a $1.50 saving in brokerage costs but for a $6.50 brokerage saving I am very tempted, assuming Stake's platform is stable.
  • US trading funcitonality is also nothing new - this is where Stake has the advantage.

Thoughts?

Given you have been bearish @Noicewon11 I was wondering if you saw the AFR artcile in the last week with the opinion of Datt Capital? Maybe you will miss out on the next Afterpay? :)

No worries @Noicewon11 for what it is worth (not much because I have never spent too much time looking at the stock) my thoughts are probably similar to yours. I found the AFR piece amusing how the media loves to grab on to the "next Afterpay" line to get some clicks. Then when you read the article you get about a sentence saying it just has the potential and shares some characteristics with what made Afterpay a success. Would be nice to get a bit more substance from the AFR and a fundie if they are going to run the clickbait headlines. I thought I would throw it out there anyway as I would be interested if those bullish can expand on this theme if they happen to believe in it.

Very high trading volumes over the past week, with about 2% of float traded yesterday, along with a +20% surge in valuation.   A few developments:

1) Comsec wholesale sold for $85 M.  This is he equivalent to Selfwealth's Advisor Platform.   Perhaps this has provided a sign post to the advisor platform's medium term value?

2) Recent insider buying.

Worth watching if there is a change in substantial holding notice in the coming days.

Mystery buyer turns out to be Datt Group (https://www.datt.com.au/). Interesting to see invested on behalf of two entities. 1) Datt Capital, with an average purchase price of around 15c per share, and Datt Super, with an average price of around 22c per share. If I am not mistaken, this shows Mr Emmanuel Datt is putting his clients interests before his own.
