Aptera Motors

An interesting story I have been following for a few years now. Kind of cool and I would genuinely consider selling my little 1997 Boxster to get one of these when they are released in Australia.

Investing round is open at "USD $10.50/share" and you can sign up and funnily enough make a minimum $1,000 investment with your credit card! Not sure if I'll be doing that (today at least)

Here are a few excerpts from recent media articles that indicate good tailwinds for EVs and battery minerals. In 2021 an incredible 72% of new vehicle sales in Norway were EVs.

EVs win race over 15 years; governments can’t see it (AFR)

“A new report commissioned by non-bank lender Plenti reveals the economics of electric vehicles are stacking up faster than expected, driving household power bills as low as $230 a year and paying off against internal combustion engines in 15 years when bundled with renewable power sources.”

and,

“Our research demonstrates that EVs are cost competitive and that with expected higher fuel prices – the research was performed at a fuel price under $2 – the economics only become more compelling.”

Budget to boost critical minerals sector (Australian Mining)

The Budget measures include $200 million over five years for the Critical Minerals Accelerator Initiative (CMAI) and $50.5 million over three years for a virtual National Critical Minerals Research and Development Centre (NCMRDC).

“CME welcomes well-targeted initiatives in value-add processing and forward-leaning export growth across iron ore, critical and battery materials, and development hubs for nascent hydrogen and ammonia production from low emissions energy sources,”

Biden poised to use Cold-War powers to boost battery metals

”President Joe Biden is poised to invoke as soon as this week Cold War powers to encourage domestic production of critical minerals for electric-vehicle and other types of batteries“

ASX listed miners of lithium, nickel, graphite, cobalt, manganese and rare earths (eg. NdPr) should have good tailwinds going forward.
