Was a disappointing quarter and the late Friday release is cheeky but at least it wasn't after close, which is more questionable to put it nicely. I did think this part of the announcement augers well for the medium term -

“The Company solidified its position as a leader in the Artificial Intelligence (AI)market following its appointment in Q124 as the only end-to-end NVIDIA distributor in the ANZ region and established a leadership position in the AI software arena, currently ranking as the number one distributor for Microsoft Copilot in both Australia and New Zealand”

I agree - not a great update and to hold until last thing on Friday does make you feel a bit downbeat on the announcement.

I also think a large over reaction by the market given the company's ability to retain margin and the tailwinds that will exist as the AI hardware and software roll out picks up speed over the next couple of years. The other thing that points to a better second half is the dividend setting at 10% higher than last year. I would have thought that given the market reaction to their overreach last time, there would be a level of confidence in meeting an EPS of around 45c per share at least for the full year.

Two things with this one,

  1. non-discloser when it went their way $300m rev pulls forward--market should have been alerted at that point, but disclosure when it becomes a positive story, was down due to comping a high number. of course, DDR are not alone here C19 saw it all over the place. The toothless ASX should be onto this.
  2. the revenue hole led to no real EBITDA decline, the commentary about this was quite obtuse. of course that it good but leads to the question its profitless sales (unlikely) or costs lower, wasnt clearly stated.

overall its an over reaction IMO

It will be interesting to see how the market reacts next week. Given the timing of the release, it's likely the full reaction hasn't flushed through yet.

Late Friday afternoon update not the best look. That said think this will be an opportunity to top up I think with short term market headwinds before medium term tailwinds for the industry.
