I wonder if the result of TC Alfred will provide an opening for AMX on the Gold Coast with the sand dune monitoring? I believe they pump a huge amount from south of the Tweed and there'll be a heap of sand moving around, both pumped and naturally in the weeks and months from now. I'm sure someone would have some money to spend on getting data around that.
Great find! I know it's a huge problem for Stockton beach in Newcastle. The natural sand migration is disrupted by the harbour breakwalls so Stockton beach, to the north of the breakwall, often gets seriously eroded by storms. I'm sure this happens around every harbour with a breakwall.
But as dealing with the erosion is generally handled at a local council level, does the local council have the budget for this type of monitoring?
