There is a tread in the forums on hydrogen, which is interesting as Frontier are putting plans in place for a green hydrogen refuelling station in Perth. The site is expected to be completed in 2023 and will be among the first of its kind in Western Australia.

The order was placed with ENGV, which together with VYS and PDC Machines, recently built the first retail hydrogen refuelling station in Australia.

The unit will integrate an electrolyser as well as compression, storage and dispensing sub-systems to support a fleet of hydrogen vehicles.

The site will allow 5kg tanks to be filled in just a few minutes which sound minuscule volume, however for perspective, a 5.65kg tank fueled a 2021 Toyota Mirai sedan on a 1,360km journey through California last year.

Frontier indicates additional locations for hydrogen refuelling are in planning to roll out a “hydrogen highway” in WA, capitalising on the state government’s move toward renewable hydrogen to decrease the reliance on diesel imports.
