AFR article on KPT's exposure to fires (click here)

Two key quotes from the CEO:

"It's well in excess of $100 million of tree crop that has been impacted"

and

"We are 100 per cent confident that the business will carry on," he said. "We have insurance and also Kangaroo Island, not withstanding the recent events, is a terrific place to grow trees."

Shares have been voluntarily suspended while the company assesses the damage of the Kangaroo Island fires, and seeks to prepare more detail to shareholders on the expected impact.

See ASX announcement here

The impact will likely be significant, but will take some time to properly evaluate. The full costs will include the potential for the (non-cash) write-down of the carrying value of land.

Prior to the suspension, the company had a Market cap of ~$112m, roughly the same as the total insured value of its plantations

[UPDATE] on 8th January, KPT advised that 90% oof plantations have been fire-affected. See here
