Soul Pats was my biggest holder when I ran QHL. I used to enjoy going to see Rob Milner in Sydney; you enter in a foyer which is adorned with old chemist shop jars and is a walk back in time. Upstairs is like a converted loft.

I asked him how they had turned a chemists super fund into what it has become. He told me they invested in a coal mine to the tune of about $80m. A couple of years later it was bought out and they were sitting at over $1bn. With that war chest SOL as we know it was born.

Visiting Rob was like a quiet chat with your father or grand-father. He sat back and listened to the story and was always encouraging. Smart man, I have the greatest respect.
